iModz is a new utility for iChat that lets you change the chat application’s status messages. It can display a song name, a Web site’s title, a personal message, a list of messages that switch and more. Built for Mac OS X 10.2 (“Jaguar”) and Mac OS X 10.3 (“Panther”) it’s a freebie.
iModz can display the title of the site you’re viewing on Safari and change the order of information coming from iTunes; it also has different window transparency levels. The latest version (1.2) of the utility offers smarter localization for supported languages and offers improved menus, tweaked keyboard shortcuts and a Send Message feature. The latter will send a iChat message to others, telling them what you’re listening on iTunes.
iModz is available in Brazilian Portuguese and English — all in the same downloadable package. The utility doesn’t do any reconfiguring of your Mac’s system, but uses Cocoa (Apple’s object oriented development environment) and AppleScript (Apple’s system-level scripting language) to perform its duties.
