The iPod will be available in Virgin Megastores in the UK in time for Christmas, Macworld UK reports. The best-selling device will be available from all 165 Virgin Megastore and Virgin Xpress UK outlets.
The Virgin deal follows an announcement by Tim Cook, Apple’s executive vice president of worldwide sales and operations, who said that the Apple “has put a lot of energy into joining with music value-added resellers,” Macworld UK reports. Fred Anderson, Apple’s chief financial officer, had previously announced plans to boost sales of iPods even further by making them available at 8,000 resellers worldwide before the holidays.
A European version of the iTunes Music Store is due in 2004, which should further spike sales of iPods. Last month Apple rolled out the Windows version of the online music store.
