MacMice has introduced The Mouse, a US$39.99 scrolling multi-button mouse with 800 characters per inch (cpi) tracking resolution. It’s a USB scroll wheel device with a split upper housing that provides two mousing buttons.
The Mouse is designed in the same white styling as much of Apple’s consumer hardware line. It’s slated to ship Nov. 24.
The Mouse is designed “to be a workhorse product for professional Macintosh users,” MacMice President Jack Campbell said. It comes with MouseCommand v10 and MouseCommand v9 drivers that work with, respectively, Mac OS X (10.1 through 10.3) and Mac OS 8.5.1-9.2.1. The software-hardware combination offers assignable scroll button tasks, left-handed operation, adjustable clicking and motion, built-in adjustable curser acceleration, reversible horizontal scrolling and more.
