Marathon Computer will ship a desk mounting solution for the Power Mac G5 on Dec. 19. The US$59 product lets you mount a G5 underneath a desk or work surface with the computer’s handles fitting into specially designed brackets (no modification of the Mac’s case is necessary).
The company offers DeskMounts for Power G3s and G4s, but had to revamp the product to work with the case redesign of the G5. The DeskMount for G5 is single-piece construction made of aircraft-grade aluminum.
The entire surface of the mounting system — which measures 8 x 11 inches — is coated with a material designed to prevent scratches and dings, while simultaneously preventing vibration from being transmitted between your desk and computer, according to Marathon. It also provides built-in cable management to keep cables out of the way. Marathon is taking pre-orders for the DeskMount for G5 at their Web site.
