MEI today announced the release of the Fido plug-in for Adobe InDesign. The software works in conjunction with the company’s MEI Ad Import plug-in and with their standalone layout tools: Page Director Ad Layout System, AdForce, Page Director Classified Layout System and ClassForce.
Fido provides an automated tool for determining the status of linked ads and graphic elements in Adobe InDesign and will automatically locate the correct file paths to missing files across a network for importation into the document.
In a traditional magazine workflow, any advertisements that come in after the ad dummying cycle do so without links to the actual content, requiring manual navigation to the correct content. Fido eliminates this step by carrying over the information from the company’s other ad management tools.
Fido can also search multiple nested directories to find missing files, navigate to a file and create a new link and import an image with a new file path. Fido can also keep track of creation and modification dates and can perform image resizing and renaming.
