Nisus Software Inc. has released Nisus Writer Express v1.1, a new version of their word processing software for Mac OS X. The new version is a free update for existing users, and adds a variety of new features to the software.
Nisus Writer Express borrows from the same features offered in the original Nisus Writer application, but has been written in Mac OS X’s Cocoa application framework. Nisus Writer Express features Unicode support, AppleScript and Perl macro support, three-level find and replace features including GREP and much more.
New to Nisus Writer Express 1.1 is more flexible multiple language support, for example. Users can select a language to write in or assign languages to a range of text; Nisus Writer Express will modify its spelling dictionaries accordingly. A new Language palette lets you choose your writing language.
Performance has been improved for the file open process. Increase Indent and Decrease Indent items have been added to the Format menu. A number of smaller features have been added too, like show invisibles, background color change in Draft View, reverse order printing for inkjet printers, improved floating palette support, and more. You can read about the new features on Nisus’ Web site.
Nisus Writer Express costs US$59.95. Upgrades are available for Nisus Writer “Classic” users.
