Synchronize! Pro X developer Qdea has released Backup Simplicity, a simple backup utility aimed at Jaguar and Panther users.
Based on the same technology that powers Synchronize! Pro X, Backup Simplicity works in tandem with a second hard disk drive connected to your Mac, either externally through FireWire or internally through IDE.
Backup Simplicity produces a fully bootable OS X backup, so if your primary drive fails, you can switch to your backup drive and continue to work. Backup Simplicity operates once a day, usually at night, and will back up your Mac even if you’re logged out — as long as the computer is powered on.
Backup Simplicity is available as a free demo. The software is available on a license basis for a fixed period of time — a one year license costs US$14.95 through Jan. 15, 2004, while a three year license costs $40. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.3 or higher.
