Aspyr Media Inc. offered up more details Wednesday about its forthcoming conversion of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the last game Aspyr has teamed up with LucasArts to bring to Mac gamers.
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is the sequel to last year’s game Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, also brought to the Mac by Aspyr. Based in the Star Wars universe, this game puts players in the role of a new student learning the ways of The Force from Master Luke Skywalker.
Players customize their characters and craft their own lightsaber. What’s more, you decide whether you’re going to follow the light side or the dark side of The Force. Along the way, you’ll travel to well-known Star Wars locations, wield new weapons and operate new vehicles and train in new Force powers. A level selection system enables you to follow your course as you choose the missions and adventures you wish to do.
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy also features six multiplayer modes that allow you to participate in team-based sieges and two-on-one power duels, and more. 23 multiplayer arenas keep players interested.
According to the new information posted on Aspyr’s Web site, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy will require a G3/500MHz or faster Mac, Mac OS X v10.2.6 or later; 256MB RAM; 1.3GB hard disk space; ATI Radeon 7500 or Nvidia GeForce2 MX or better graphics with at least 32MB VRAM; and a 4x CD-ROM.
You can pre-order the game now for US$49.99. Aspyr’s Project Status Web page notes that Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is already at its “final candidate” development milestone, when the last development builds are created prior to declaring the game “gold master” and ready to replicate. Aspyr anticipates putting it on store shelves in December.
