Apple’s Games site has posted a comprehensive guide to Mac game peripherals. The game peripheral guide joins a number of other Getting Started guides that Apple has produced for Mac users looking to get the most out of their system’s gaming potential.
The peripherals guide includes separate sections on gamepads, mice, steering wheels and other peripherals suitable for gaming, as well as practical advice for Mac gamers wondering if their systems are configured for optimal use for games.
Apple also provides information about USB Overdrive, a third-party utility that can come in handy to configure game controllers for specific game support. The section on mice even provides support for the seemingly heretical idea that maybe Apple’s one-button mouse isn’t up to par for some kinds of games.
The other devices section also documents the iSight camera’s forthcoming utility as a game controller, thanks to Freeverse Software and Strange Flavour’s forthcoming game ToySight, which puts players in the action similarly to Sony’s PlayStation 2 peripheral, the EyeToy.
