Apple on Tuesday released an update to Soundtrack, its music composition tool. The new version, Soundtrack v1.1, can be downloaded through Mac OS X’s Software Update system preference pane.
Soundtrack enables users to create music of their own using royalty-free loops, or samples. Using a timeline metaphor, Soundtrack provides track controls and syncs up the loops to your project tempo and key. Users can also apply special effects developed by Apple and Emagic. Originally available only bundled with Final Cut Pro 4, Soundtrack was released as a solo application last summer.
Apple strongly recommends the 1.1 update for 1.0 and 1.0.1 users. The new release includes general fixes as well as improvements in performance and linking of relocated project audio files, according to Apple.
