Iogear Inc. on Wednesday introduced BOSS — Broadband Office Storage Server. Aimed at small businesses and home users, BOSS combines network attached storage (NAS), a cable/DSL router, an Ethernet switch and a number of software capabilities in a single device. BOSS retails starting at US$399.95.
BOSS comes with a firewall that supports Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI). BOSS features Virtual Private Networking (VPN) support as well as its own built-in File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server. BOSS can also be used to host a Web site.
BOSS is compatible with Macs and PCs “and other Internet Explorer compatible systems,” according to Iogear, and works with Mac OS X and various versions of Windows. Iogear offers the BOSS in two sizes — 120GB for $399.95, and 200GB for $499.95.
Further details about BOSS were not available from Iogear’s Web site as MacCentral posted this article.
