Nikon Inc. on Wednesday announced development of its D70, a new digital SLR camera expected to hit stores in spring 2004.
A lot of technical details about the camera were left out of Nikon’s announcement, but the company noted that the D70 will accept interchangeable lenses. The camera body uses a Nikon F lens mount and sports Nikon’s DX format sensor, so it’s compatible with all AF Nikkor lenses.
A new DX Zoom-Nikkor lens is also being developed concurrently with the camera. The company also indicated that the D70’s estimated retail price will be US$999, for the camera body.
Nikon said to look for more information about the D70 “at a later date.”
