Inferiis, developer of the newsfeed reader MacReporter, has released KeepAnEye 1.0, software designed to allow you to visually monitor multiple sources of data.
KeepAnEye users select from various data sources — RSS feeds, pictures from a Web site, Web pages, disk use patterns, software update sites and so on — and set up a Stickies-like window in which to view the contents. One could, for example, have a RSS news feed update in one window pane, while a Webcam updated in another.
Each source of information can be customized — so the RSS feed updates hourly while the Webcam updates every few seconds, for example — and each source can be set to notify the user when the data changes. KeepAnEye 1.0 is built around a plug-in architecture, which allows developers to make additional data sources. The program requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later, and is compatible with Mac OS X 10.3.
The demonstration version runs for two hours, while the full version costs $12 and is available for purchase directly from the company’s Web site.
