Netopia Inc. has released Timbuktu Pro v7.0 for Mac. The new version of the company’s remote control software for Mac includes Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther” support and more.
Timbuktu Pro is a long-running software utility that enables users to remotely control a Mac from their own desktop. The software includes the ability to move files and folders, send instant messages, chat with remote users and more. Timbuktu Pro is used by IT personnel, teachers and others who want to remotely view or control other computers.
In addition to Panther support, Timbuktu Pro supports Fast User Switching on Panther. It also includes a new “Profile” capability that will invoke the Apple System Profiler software on the remote computer and return results. Other changes include an enhanced screen-sharing window with scroll-wheel and multi-button mouse support; new preferences and more. For complete details, visit the Web site.
Minimum system requirements for Timbuktu Pro for Mac include 15MB of available disk space and TCP/IP or network connection. Version 7.0 appears specific to Mac OS X v10.2.8 or higher; for Mac OS 8.6 – 10.2.6, Netopia continues to offer Timbuktu Pro 6.0.3.
Timbuktu Pro 7.0 costs US$79.95 per seat through December 31, 2003 (one copy is required for each computer to make or receive Timbuktu Pro connections). Discounts are available for multi-user packs. Upgrade pricing was not immediately available as MacCentral posted this article.
