Germany’s DEVONtechnologies has updated its DEVONthink program to version 1.7.3, bringing support for Mac OS X 10.3 and adding features.
DEVONthink is an information manager designed to store and manage information found in different types of files, including data, text files, PDFs and images. The application allows searches of any of the compatible formats in one place and includes an integrated RTF editor for composition of new documents.
Version 1.7.3 of DEVONthink Personal Edition is now updated for Panther and includes a variety of new features including a “special characters” command to open the character palette, a new command for auto-completion and new text styles. The program’s conversion of HTML to RTF is now done thanks to the WebKit engine with Web links inside RTF documents fully supported. Word documents may also be imported with Panther’s Word-to-RTF converter.
The new update also includes the ability to import “.url” Internet location files (used by Microsoft Internet Explorer) as well as “.mli” “.mll” and “.sty” files. The notepad and outliner have also been improved and the Dock icon now bounces once after successfully adding new documents to the database.
DEVONthink Personal Edition 1.7.3 runs on Mac OS X 10.2 or later (with Panther now the “recommended” OS) and is available to download at the company’s Web site.. The program costs $35.
