SimpleTech Inc. on Monday introduced the Bonzai USB 2.0 Upgradeable Flash Drive. It’s built on the same foundation as the company’s Bonzai USB 1.1 drives — a USB connector attached to a slot that accepts Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMediaCard (MMC) flash storage.
Compatible with both Windows and Mac-based systems, the Bonzai is hot-swappable and recognized by the host system as a mass storage compliant device. The Bonzai doesn’t require an external power source to operate, either.
The Bonzai USB 2.0 Upgradeable Flash Drive will be made available in January from leading online retailers and direct from SimpleTech. It’ll be available in capacities from 64 – 512MB with either an SD or MMC Flash card. SimpleTech plans to offer a model that comes without a card if customers plan to use their own, as well.
Prices will range from US$19.99 to $319.99 depending on format and capacity.
