Ultralingua has released an update to its eponymous dictionary software for Mac OS X and Windows: Ultralingua 4.4 is now available, in English and foreign languages. It’s free for registered users of Ultralingua 4.0 or higher.
Ultralingua features automatic verb conjugation, a multilingual interface, modular structure that enables you to add languages in one interface, add your own entries, look for usage examples on the Web, translate blocks of text from the Web, a PowerSearch feature to define just what you need and much more.
In addition to Panther support, changes in Ultralingua v4.4 include what the developer describes as “significant improvements” in indexing and data.
Ultralingua costs US$29.95 per language module; Registered 3.x users can upgrade for $14.95.
In related news, Ultralingua has launched Ultralingua.net, an online language resource that features Web-based versions of most of their dictionaries, along with verb conjugation, grammar references and more. The developer plans to augment the site with online spelling and grammar checkers and other content as well. It’s free for casual use, and the developer provides a subscription model for users who want to go beyond their daily limit of searches.
