Heuris and JVC Professional Products Co. on Wednesday announced the Heuris Pro Indie HD Toolkit. The toolkit is a series of software tools developed by Heuris that augment Final Cut Pro’s ability to work with JVC’s JY-HD10U camera.
The JY-HD10U is a High Definition (HD) video camera, and the Pro Indie HD Toolkit includes three separate software tools: the XtractorHDV import utility, MPEG Power Professional-DTVHD MPEG-2 encoding software and the XtoHD player utility.
Footage shot on the JY-HD10U is transferred through FireWire to the desktop using the XtractorHDV application, which converts the HDV format video into something that’s useable by Final Cut Pro. MPEG Power Professional then encodes the edited footage into MPEG-2 streams. XtoHD is used to transfer that content to a D-VHS deck for playback or recording.
“High-definition filmmakers that use the JY-HD10U camera have been askingfor software to edit in Final Cut Pro,” explained Juan Martinez, director ofstrategic technical alliances for JVC.
The Pro Indie HD Toolkit can be ordered directly from Heuris for US$4,785. Its individual components can also be ordered separately.
