Berlin, Germany-based music software maker Native Instruments has released an update for its “vintage” synth module Pro-53 that makes the software able to work natively on Mac OS X as well as with systems that utilize Digidesign’s Real Time Audio Suite (RTAS) plug-in format.
Modeled after the legendary Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, Pro-53 provides users with a rich 80s-style synthesizer sound. Pro-53 can import Prophet-5 SysEx sound data, so it can reproduce sound libraries made for the original. It includes 512 memory slots, 64 new sound presets, a built-in effects unit and more.
With OS X support and RTAS, Pro-53 now works as a plug-in with any software that supports Audio Units, RTAS and VST, and it can also operate as a standalone application with CoreMIDI and CoreAudio.
Pro-53 costs US$199. The update is available to registered user as a $29 download. Users who bought Pro-53 after August 15, 2003 can get the update for free. More details are available from the Web site.
