Filmmakers looking to add a little pizzazz to their work can check out the six free iMovie tutorials released on Thursday by Stupendous Software. Each tutorial offers step-by-step instructions to achieve certain effects, such as silent film look or textured backdrops, in Apple’s popular movie editing software.
The tutorials include Textured Backdrops; Basic Compositing: Masks; Grainy Black & White Look; Intermediate Compositing: Glow Outline; Intermediate Compositing: Blue & Green Screen; and Silent Film Look.
Users can either read the tutorials on the Stupendous web site or download them for offline use. They’re web pages, not QuickTime videos, so the downloads are compact.
The company also sells 15 iMovie plug-in packs, all of them with demo versions that offer over 400 effects and titles. Stupendous notes that some of those demo versions are fully functional, which means that they’re offering approximately 60 free effects and titles to iMovie users.
The plug-in packs sell for $25 each or $200 for the Stupendous Bundle. System requirements call for iMovie 2.1.1 or above for Mac OS 9 users and iMovie 2.1.2 or iMovie 3.0.x for Mac OS X users.
