Aspyr Media Inc. announced Friday plans to publish a Mac version of The Sims Makin’ Magic, a new expansion pack for players of The Sims.
The Sims is the best selling computer game ever. It puts players in control of virtual people called Sims. You decorate your Sims’ living area, find them a job, help them interact with others, and much more. The game, which was published for the PC by Electronic Arts, has spawned a number of successful expansion packs that add on a number of additional capabilities, environments and situations in which your Sims can interact.
This latest one, Makin’ Magic, lets you “add a little magic to your Sims’ lives” by casting spells, hypnotizing friends, and turning neighbors into frogs. You can perform magic, go on quests for ingredients for potions, and unlock spell recipes; craft charms, animate minions and add magical decor. Spells go haywire unless your Sims and you are careful, however.
The Makin’ Magic expansion pack adds more than 175 new items, including the Baker’s Oven, Skeleton Closet, Spookshow stage and “spooky and crazy” rollercoaster rides for your Sims.
Aspyr noted that Makin’ Magic is being developed internally by Aspyr Studios’ Mark Krenek. Anticipated for release in late-January, the game is available for pre-order for US$29.99.
