A company best known for its memory products for the Macintosh, Trans Intl. has announced its Enhance 7200 RPM Mobile Hard Disk Drive.
The 60GB drive mechanism is designed to remain active around the clock, according to Trans Intl. It supports a read/write duty cycle of up to 50 percent more than standard mobile drives. It’s a 2.5-inch drive mechanism with an average seek time of 10ms, a 1000g/1ms shock rating, and an ATA-6 interface. The drive mechanism is made by Hitachi-IBM.
Trans Intl. sells the drive in both internal and external configurations. The internal configuration is suitable for PowerBooks and costs US$289; the external configuration includes FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 ports, and costs $375.
