Monster Cable is the latest company to throw its hat in the ring with an FM-based wireless iPod interface to bridge a connection between your iPod and your car’s radio. Monster’s iCarPlay is designed specifically for third-generation iPods equipped with a Dock Connector.
The device plugs into the iPod’s Dock Connector and also attaches to your car’s cigarette lighter/12 volt accessory jack. It charges up the iPod’s battery and sports 24 karat gold contacts to help reduce corrosion and improve power transfer.
You select an FM station on the iCarPlay, tune your car’s radio into that frequency, and then you can listen to your iPod’s music on your car radio. Like other similar devices, iCarPlay transmits music on one of eight different pre-set FM radio frequencies.
Monster Cable sells the iCarPlay for US$69.95.
