On Monday, storage solutions company WiebeTech announced the arrival of two new products designed to assist with forensic data analyses. The first one, Forensic ComboDock, is a write-blocked FireWire 800/400 and USB2 bridge for 3.5″ IDE drives. It allows investigators to read data from a drive without writing any data to it. An optional adapter board is available for use with serial ATA drives.
The other product, Forensic BayDock 800, comes with either one or two removable drive bays, one of which is write-blocked. It supports ATA-5 and ATA-6 high capacity drives and it ships with removable SuperSwap trays that offer rear-connection swing arms for easy hook-ups.
Both forensic products are plug-and-play and don’t require any drivers. They’re daisy-chainable through the FireWire ports and sport an Oxford OXUF922 bridge that offers high-speed data analysis.
The Forensic ComboDock is $399.95, $529.95 when ordered with the serial adapter board. The single bay BayDock 800 is $649.95 while the model with two bays is $899.95. Extra SuperSwap trays for the BayDock 800 are $129.95 each.
