The final installment of The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, “Return of the King,” hits theaters in the U.S. this Wednesday. Apple’s iTunes Music Store is featuring an exclusive area for customers who want to buy the movie soundtrack or view the trailer in QuickTime. What’s more, Apple is also participating in a special promotion that lets users buy special edition CD-R discs to commemorate the event.
Howard Shore’s soundtrack to the film is available for sale from the iTunes Music Store for US$11.99, and it’s 19 tracks long. Some users may not find just having the soundtrack enough, though, so once you’ve bought and downloaded it, you can also buy special edition CD-Rs imprinted with one of three different graphics patterns and the logo from the movie. Two show Gollum in various poses, while one CD-R is emblazoned with an image of The One Ring.
All three CD-Rs are available for purchase separately either using a credit card or PayPal, for US$4.99 each. They come in a colored slimline sugar case. What’s more, you can purchase them as a 3-CD bundle as well, for $12.99. They are individually numbered.
