Apple on Thursday released an update to its pro video editing application Final Cut Pro and FCP’s companion software tool LiveType to bring them to versions 4.1.1 and 1.1.1 respectively. DVD Studio Pro was also updated, to v2.0.3. All updates are available from the Software Update System Preferences pane.
Final Cut Pro is Apple’s scalable pro video editing software that’s used for editing and finishing in both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) formats. The software was recently updated with optimizations for the Power Mac G5 and Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther.”
LiveType enables Final Cut Pro users to produce dynamic, animated titles using keyframe animation, customizable effects and more. DVD Studio Pro is Apple’s pro-level DVD authoring software.
The Final Cut Pro update addresses an issue involve with the Simplified Chinese Input Method, according to Apple. The LiveType update addresses issue with third-party LiveFonts, textures and objects. What’s more, the update includes all previous maintenances releases, so Apple recommends the update strongly for all Final Cut Pro 4 users or users of earlier versions of LiveType.
The update to DVD Studio Pro adds support for Cropped D-1 and 1/2 D-1 MPEG-2 video resolutions, and also makes improvements to overall stability. Apple also describes changes that affect the behavior of the dual-layer break point during playback of DVD-9 projects — more details are available from Software Update.
