Parliant Corp. has updated the software for its PhoneValet telephony product to version 1.1b. The new version adds features, improves performance and improves integration with Address Book and iChat.
PhoneValet is a combination of software and a USB-based hardware device that plugs into your telephone line. It makes it possible to convert your Mac into a multi-line capable telephony system. It uses Caller ID to identify your caller, maintains your phone book, and enables you to initiate calls and keep track of who you’re talking with and how long you’ve been talking. The product made its debut at Macworld CreativePro in July, 2003.
The new version of the PhoneValet software adds backup and restore functionality to its database. What’s more, the new version improves performance, especially for users of Microsoft Entourage v.X. Other improvements include better integration with Apple’s Address Book and iChat software, where it can now dial numbers directly from Address Book. PhoneValet can automatically switch your iChat status to “On the Phone” when you’re talking with someone.
PhoneValet costs US$129.95, but the update is free for PhoneValet users.
