Miglia Technology recently announced a G5-compatible version of its AlchemyTV Digital Video Recorder (DVR) PCI card, which allows you to watch and record TV shows on your Mac or input video from a DVD player or VCR. The new G4/G5 version includes a TV/antenna input and composite, S-VHS, and audio in and audio out connectors.
The card also comes with a remote control that you can use to launch the TV viewer and change channels and adjust the volume without touching the keyboard. You can also use it to control iTunes, DVD Player, PowerPoint, and other applications. Integration with iCal allows you to schedule the TV shows you want to watch and record to either Motion-JPEG or MPEG-4 files for later burning to a CD-R or VCD.
The G4/G5 AlchemyTV DVR PCI card retails for US$159 and requires a free PCI slot, a processor running at 400MHz or faster, 256MB of RAM, and Mac OS X v.10.2.4 or higher.
