Nikon Inc. announced at Macworld Conference & Expo today the introduction of the Coolscan V ED, Super Coolscan 5000 ED, and the Super Coolscan 9000 ED high-speed desktop film scanners. The first is aimed at consumers while the other two were designed with professionals in mind.
The new scanners boast 4000 DPI resolution and feature FireWire and USB 2.0 connectivity, as well as Nikkor Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lenses for higher-quality images, LED lights that don’t require warm-up time and emit little heat, Applied Science Fiction’s Digital ICE4 Advanced technology, and Nikon Color Management System.
Nikon noted that the three scanners will be available this month. Suggested retail prices are US$599.95 for the Coolscan V ED, $1,099.95 for the Super Coolscan 5000 ED, and $1,999.95 for the Super Coolscan 9000 ED.
