Macworld magazine and Aspyr Media noted today that they’ve sponsored the fourth annual MacBowl, a charity event that raises money and computer equipment for San Francisco schools. Microsoft, ATI Technologies Inc., Apple, MacSoft, Aladdin Systems and MacPlay are also supporting the event.
MacBowl will be held at the Yerba Buena Bowling Center in San Francisco on Thursday, January 8, 2004. Companies sponsoring teams playing in the event donate US$1,500 in cash or Mac computer equipment, which is in turn donated to a San Francisco-area school in need of a new computer lab or upgrade.
Aspyr and Macworld worked with the office of San Francisco’s Unified School District to select the Treasure Island Elementary School as the beneficiaries of this year’s event. Last year’s MacBowl raised US$15,000 in computers, software and peripherals for the Charles Drew Elementary School.
Macworld magazine and MacCentral.com are both publications of Mac Publishing LLC, a business unit of IDG.
