Equinux, which focuses on Mac applications for IT environments, made two announcements at Macworld Conference & Expo: an update to APC Tracker 4 and the debut of VPN Tracker Server.
APC Tracker, which helps remotely manage information and prevent data lass when a power failure happens, now supports the use of USB-equipped UPS devices with Mac OS X Server.
“If you are unable to control your UPS devices you have a weak defense against costly downtime,” said Ortwin Gentz, CTO of Equinux. “It’s significantly easy to operate APC Tracker alongside your UPS device as a critical part of costly reboots and data loss prevention.”
In addition, the company used Macworld Expo to debut VPN Tracker Server, which sets up encrypted remote access for Mac OS X workgroups over standard Internet connections. The application runs as a VPN gateway and can be rapidly deployed anywhere with VPN Tracker Client. Its encryption is based on the IPsec protocol and it supports AES-256.
APC Tracker 4 and VPN Tracker Server are available now for US$129.90. APC Tracker upgrades from 3.x versions are free and upgrades from 1.x or 2.x editions start at $80. VPN Tracker Client pricing starts at $89.90 for a Personal Edition license and $199.90 for a Professional Edition license. Volume discounts are available.
