Roku announced its new SoundBridge M1000 and M2000 network music players on Wednesday. They allow you to take the music on your Mac and play it anywhere in the house through a Wi-Fi (AirPort) or Ethernet connection. A remote control lets you browse and select music from across the room.
The company notes that SoundBridge works seamlessly with iTunes and supports Rendezvous for simple networking. The M1000 model is 10 inches wide while the M2000 is 17 inches; they can be mounted on a wall or under a cabinet.
Roku expects to ship both SoundBridge models next month, but you can order them beginning today for US$499.99 (the M2000) and $249.99 (the M1000). Anyone who orders one from the company’s Web site before March 1 will receive a 10 percent discount.
