has announced its ADVC55, a compact analog to DV video converter compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows-based systems. It enables users to connect analog video sources such as VHS, Hi8 and more to DV products or to Macs used for digital video editing.
The box detects signals automatically and sports front and rear connectors. It features a six-pin FireWire port, along with S-Video and composite video input and stereo audio input. It uses the same DV hardware codec found in other Canopus DV capture cards and Advanced Digital Video Converters.
The ADVC55 works with DV authoring software including Apple Final Cut Pro, Avid Xpress DV and many others, according to Canopus.
Look for the ADVC55 to hit store shelves later this month for US$229.
