FireWire Depot introduced three new drive enclosures on Wednesday: the 5.25-inch TITAN, the 3.5-inch VENUS, and the 1394b QUAD5 LCD RAID 5.
The TITAN and VENUS models are slim, lightweight enclosures built with aluminum. The TITAN was designed for any 5.25-inch IDE drives, including tape back-up, Zip drives, and optical drives, while the VENUS was designed for 3.5-inch IDE hard drives. Both come in either FireWire only or FireWire/USB 2.0 combo versions.
The 1394b QUAD5 LCD RAID 5 enclosure was designed to deliver the performance required for servers and I/O demanding applications, including video-on-demand, databases, workstations, high-end desktops, and more. It takes full advantage of high-speed FireWire serial bus and Ultra DMA 133 ATA bus to accommodate multi-user and multitasking performance, and you can easily hot-swap ATA drives loaded in it.
In addition, the 1394b QUAD5 LCD RAID 5 features an LCD panel that allows you to manually configure and monitor a RAID configuration, view warning messages when disks have problems, and keep an eye on system voltage, temperature, and fan activity.
All three enclosures are available now. The TITAN and VENUS enclosures are US$99.99 for the combo model and $89.99 for the FireWire only version. The 1394b QUAD5 LCD RAID 5 enclosure is $1,299.99.
