Stockholm, Sweden-based loop, sound effect and music sample provider PowerFX on Thursday announced a new product line aimed at Apple’s Soundtrack and GarageBand software, as well as Miracle Beats, a drum loop tool that lets you slice drum loops and rearrange them for thousand of possible combinations.
Apple Disc Jams is a new collection of CD-ROMs optimized for use with Apple’s Soundtrack and GarageBand applications. Soundtrack is Apple’s loop-based music composition software aimed at video and Web producers, while GarageBand is the music composition utility bundled with Apple’s iLife 04 suite that was demonstrated by Steve Jobs and musician John Mayer during last week’s Macworld Conference & Expo keynote.
PowerFX has released the first of three titles in the collection, each priced at US$49. The collection includes Invincible Dance, a collection of club and dance oriented loops; NuJazz House, a collection of acoustic and electric Jazz samples that include drums, bass, electric piano, minor 7th chords and more; and Electro Clashmatic, billed as “a neo-retro combination” that includes vocoder and electro-style beats and bass, modern synth and FX one shots.
If you’re using VST-based music tools instead, you may be interested in Miracle Beats, a sample CD and VST instrument combination that features LoopMorph, technology that “slices” drum loops, splitting each element of the drum kit on to individual tracks with each slice. This way you have total control over the drum loop by splitting and rearranging elements. More than 500 full drum loops are included. Miracle Beats costs $99.
