The Mozilla Project released Mozilla v1.6, the latest major point release of the open source Web and e-mail suite. Mozilla is the technology platform upon which the Firebird, Thunderbird and Camino browsers have all been developed.
Mozilla provides users with Web browsing, e-mail, HTML editing and IRC chat capabilities; it provides users with popup and junk mail blocking, and supports tabbed browsing and other features.
The software now features NTLM authentication for the first time on non-Windows platforms. vCard support has been added to Mozilla Mail, along with the ability remove mail from POP3 accounts after a specified number of days. Ask Jeeves searching has been added, security-related bugs have been fixed, crash bugs have been fixed, and much more.
