U.K.-based developer The Pixel Farm has released PFMatch, a utility that allows you to match move, or analyze video footage and create a virtual camera that precisely matches the movement of the original sequence.
The Pixel Farm said that PFMatch provides similar basic functionality as its pro-level PFTrack application but at a cheaper price. PFMatch is aimed at single desktop users who don’t need all the functionality found in PFTrack. It offers auto-track and calibration, a tracking guide, constraints, all export formats, survey data input, DV/SD/HD supported resolutions, and QuickTime and AVI supported file formats.
You’ll need to be running Mac OS X v10.3 (Panther) to use PFMatch, which has been fully optimized for the Power Mac G5. A license is US$1,000. A bundle with PFBarn, Pixel Farm’s upcoming 3D geometry reconstruction software, is $1,700, with additional licenses costing $750. Academic licenses are $80. You can upgrade from PFMatch to PFTrack, which is $5,000 for a commercial license and $75 for an academic one, for the price difference between the two.
