Apple’s popular QuickTime Movie Trailers Web site got a new exclusive trailer recently — it’s a new short subject from Steve Jobs’ other company, Pixar Animation Studios. You can watch a sneak peek of “Boundin'” right now.
“Boundin'” features a freshly shorn lamb and a jackalope — the mythical horn-adorned rabbit of American Western folklore. The high-stepping lamb is down in the dumps after losing his lustrous coat, until the irrepressibly optimistic jackalope comes on to the scene to cheer him up and put a dance back into his step.
The short subject is the creation of longtime Pixar animator Bud Luckey, who wrote and directed the piece. Luckey was designer of Woody, the cowboy character from Toy Story voiced by Tom Hanks. Luckey said his inspiration for “Boundin'” came from his childhood memories of Montana, and “the most pathetic thing he’d ever seen — a newly shorn lamb in the rain.”
Pixar has served up three sizes for the sneak peek: 240 x 144 pixels, 320 x 188 pixels or 480 x 276 pixels.
