As the DVD wave crested, it brought along Netflix, one of the first companies to challenge brick-and-mortar video rental stores with a unique business model: rent as many DVDs as you want for a flat monthly rate. However, while the Netflix Web site offers a robust set of features, such as the ability to assign ratings to movies and rearrange your rental queue, they’re often cumbersome to use.
Enter The Little App Factory, whose Netflix Freak shareware tool for Mac OS X allows you to access all that Netflix has to offer from one handy window. The company recently announced a point upgrade, version 1.1.1, that features AppleScript support, a “Recents” menu in the search field (available only in Panther), star ratings that are available from any view, fixes for small memory leaks and other minor bugs.
The upgrade is free for registered users. The full version is US$10; you can download a 30-day demo from The Little App Factory’s Web site.
