Bare Bones Software on Tuesday published version 7.1.2 of BBEdit, their popular HTML editor and all-purpose text tool. The maintenance release, which is free for all BBEdit 7 customers, fixes a whitespace issue that occurred while using Auto-Indent as well as a variety of other bugs.
In addition, you can now use Command-period to abort grep searches and you can connect to an SFTP server over a different port by specifying “host:port” in the host field. Version 7.1 added a variety of upgrades, including FTP and SFTP server discovery with Rendezvous and a “Preview in BBEdit” menu command.
The full version of BBEdit 7.1 is US$179. If you own an earlier copy, upgrades from version 6.5 and higher cost $49, while anyone using 6.1 and lower should expect to pay $59. Upgrades from the copies of BBEdit 4.x and 5.x that were bundled with Macromedia Dreamweaver 1 and 2 are $59, while cross-upgrades from any version of BBEdit Lite are $119, plus shipping and handling.
