Apple’s Games site features links to demos, Mac game-related news, QuickTime movie trailers of games in action and other great content, as well as its own previews and features of games you can get for the Mac. The newest addition to the site is a feature looking at MacPlay’s Activision Anthology Remix Edition, a game collection that’s sure to appeal to “old school” gamers who hanker for their Atari joystick.
Activision Anthology collects more than 75 games developed by for the Atari 2600 video game system, including dozens of Activision classics like Pitfall, Chopper Command, River Raid, Barnstorming and many more. What’s more, the anthology provides a user interface experience that will bring 30-somethings back to their youth — a bedroom complete with boom box, wood-paneled TV set and can of soda on the desk.
There’s more than just the sights of the 80s, too — Activision Anthology also includes a soundtrack of some of the era’s most popular music. Everything from Blondie to Twisted Sister, Flock of Seagulls to Mean Without Hats.
Visit Apple’s Web page for more details including screenshots, a bit of background history on Activision itself (still a dominant player in today’s console game industry) and much more.
When you’re ready to buy, you can drop by MacPlay’s Web site and order it online — Activision Anthology Remix Edition is now shipping for the Mac.
