PowerFile Inc. on Thursday announced new R200-series high-capacity optical storage libraries. The new systems work up to 40 percent faster than PowerFile’s previous offerings and read and write DVD-R, DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, CD-R, CD-ROM and other formats.
The new and improved R200 series libraries sport new DVD multi read/write drives that provide the crucial performance boost, according to PowerFile. The front-loading systems are designed to be rack-mounted in a network server environment, providing backup and long-term file archival and storage for companies like design firms, financial institutions, medical offices and more.
Starting at US$4,799, the PowerFile R200 systems can store up to 200 CDs or DVDs. The R200 systems are networked, and work essentially like a disk drive on a file server. Bundled software makes the R200 accessible to users on Mac OS X and Windows 2000/XP systems without the need for client software.
