Along with Safari 1.2, Apple on Monday released Java 1.4.2, the latest version of the cross-platform application development standard integrated into Mac OS X. You can download the new release through the Software Update System Preference pane.
“In addition to providing support for Sun’s Java 1.4.2 APIs, this release includes enhancements to drawing performance and stability for both Java applications and Java applets,” said Apple.
The installer replaces users’ current installation of Java 1.4.1. More general details about Java (as well as a few scant details about 1.4.2) are available from Apple’s Web site.
