Bare Bones Software Inc. on Tuesday updated Mailsmith, its e-mail client for Mac OS X, to version 2.1.1. The new version is billed as a maintenance release that corrects reported issues and adds minor enhancements and refinements.
Mailsmith utilizes an editing and filtering engine that’s culled from Bare Bones’ immensely popular BBEdit text editor. It features integrated support for Mac OS X’s Address Book, built-in support for PGP8.0, SSL encryption and extensive scripting support. Mailsmith also integrates (and includes a copy of) SpamSieve, the spam filtering software.
The updated version of Mailsmith is free to all registered Mailsmith 2.x customers. It requires Mac OS X v10.2 “Jaguar” or later and is Panther-compatible. The full version costs $99.
