Bare Bones Software rustled up a new release, TextWrangler 1.5.1, for their customers on Thursday. The update fixes bugs and adds minor enhancements, including Rendezvous support in the “Open from FTP” dialog box.
Bare Bones Software already offers BBEdit, a more feature-rich text editor aimed at Web developers and programmers looking for advanced capabilities. TextWrangler is a general text editor that is aimed at programmers, Unix and server administrators and others. It offers syntax coloring and function navigation for a variety of programming languages, “grep” style pattern-based search and replace, compatibility with a wide variety of BBEdit plug-ins, FTP support that allows you to open and save files on remote FTP servers, and more.
The TextWrangler 1.5.1 update is free for those who already own TextWrangler 1.0 or 1.5. A 30-day demo is available from the Bare Bones Web site; the full license is US$49. The application requires Mac OS X v.10.2 (Jaguar) or higher, with 10.2.6 strongly recommended.
