has announced the new ex-tend-it
SDI to DVI Adapter, an interface that lets you watch Serial Digital Video (SDI and HDSDI) on your Digital Visual Interface (DVI) display.
SDI is commonly used in broadcast and post production, and DVI is commonly used in LCD displays. The SDI to DVI Adapter works with all SDI and serial digital video sources, according to Gefen, outputting a DVI signal you can use with LCD monitors, HDTVs, video projectors and plasma displays — in short, any monitor with a DVI interface.
The SDI to DVI Adapter outputs RGB DVI at 1280 x 1024 resolution. It supports PAL, NTSC, 720p, 1080p and 1080i formats, according to Gefen. The 5 and a half inch-long box sports SMPTE 259M-C and SMPTE 292M inputs on one side and a female DVI connector on the other. It sports its own power supply.
A press release from Gefen lists the price at US$899, though a check of the Web site revealed the price as listed at $999 instead. Check with the company before ordering for further details.
