Managing Editor Inc.(MEI) and Adobe announced recently that the two companies are going on tour this month and next. The purpose of the five-city trek is to show off version 5.0 of the K4 Publishing System, a publishing workflow management tool that integrates with Adobe’s InDesign CS and InCopy CS applications.
Adobe and MEI will cover K4’s new features and functions at each presentation. Those include: customizable workflows for images, ads and multimedia objects; pre-production workflows for other file types, including Microsoft’s Word and Excel; XML-based hierarchically structured content; better queries and enhanced metadata handling; a File Manager Client that allows you to access K4 from other applications; and redesigned palettes and user interface.
The tour will hit New York City on February 18 and 19, Washington, DC on February 24, Miami on March 5, Chicago on March 11, and Los Angeles on March 19. All the seminars are free, but you have to register on the MEI Web site, where you’ll also find maps to the venues where they’re being held. According to the registration page, the February 18 seminar in New York City is now full.
