Quark Inc. announced Tuesday that Quark president Kamar Aulakh has been appointed CEO. Aulakh replaces long-time head Fred Ebrahimi, who remains on the company’s board of directors. In his new role, Aulakh is responsible for all operations of Quark worldwide.
Aulakh was appointed president of Quark in July 2003, and has since made Charles Mueller senior vice president of finance and Cliff Kaplan vice president of business development for OEM products. Prior to his position as president of Quark, Aulakh served as vice president of R&D, when he spoke to MacCentral about the long-awaited Mac OS X-native release of QuarkXPress 6. He has been with Quark since 1995, leading the company’s research and development efforts worldwide.
Ebrahimi lauded Aulakh’s “profound vision” of the future of Quark and said that the company has the utmost confidence in his leadership. “He has built world-class software development centers in the United States and India, and has demonstrated his development and managerial expertise countless times over the last eight years,” he added.
