Lynda.com, which produces video workshops aimed at creative professionals and delivers them online or on CD- or DVD-ROM, announced recently that three new sessions are now available:
“Learning ActionScript 2.0 in Macromedia Flash MX 2004,”
“Learning Final Cut Pro 4,” and
“New in Adobe Photoshop CS.”
“Learning ActionScript 2.0 in Macromedia Flash MX 2004,” hosted by Joey Lott, is a 10-hour workshop that delves deep into this scripting language for Flash. Aimed at either beginners or those who want to upgrade from version 1.0, the tutorial covers such ActionScript 2.0 features as variables, expressions, functions, objects, arrays, dynamic text, forms, sound, and video. It’s available on CD-ROM for US$149.95 from Lynda.com’s online store.
Sean Blumenthal’s “Learning Final Cut Pro 4” is an 8-hour workshop aimed at beginning users of Apple’s popular digital video editing application. It covers such topics as transferring DV footage from a camera, assembling a rough cut, inserting transitions, adding effects and text, and printing to tape, saving in QuickTime, or creating a Web-ready file with Compressor. You can purchase “Learning Final Cut Pro 4” on a DVD-ROM, which also includes sample footage you can use while practicing your skills, for $149.95.
Finally, “New in Adobe Photoshop CS,” hosted by Tanya Staples, was produced with the goal of getting existing PhotoShop users up to speed with the new features in the CS edition. This 4-hour workshop covers the new Photomerge, Photo Filter, and Lens Blur digital photography tools, creating graphics for the Web, enhancements to the file browser and interface, and more. It’s available on CD-ROM for $49.95.
You can visit the Web page for each workshop to view a few free clips and learn more about it. Lynda.com also offers a subscription service that allows you to view all three workshops, as well as the over 4,100 other movie-based tutorials in their catalog, online. Rates are $25 per month or $250 per year for unrestricted access to the Lynda.com library, or $375 per year for full access plus copies of all the exercise files.
