Web Crossing, Inc. announced on Tuesday that Team Crossing 3.0 is now shipping. The new version of this collaboration tool, which was designed for intranet and workgroup use, features support for multiple Team Crossing areas on the same site, a new plug-in architecture, WebFiles, compatibility with themes for easy customization, and more.
Team Crossing is a groupware server that allows users to collaborate with nothing more than a Web browser; no special client software is required. It includes a top-level desktop area for each user, internal discussion areas, an unlimited number of open or password-protected project areas, e-mail boxes for all users, personal and group calendars, static or dynamic HTML pages, document sharing with a check-out system, e-mail lists, and more.
The company notes that new installations of Team Crossing 3.0 allow administrators to sequester areas from each other, allowing for different levels of security, customization, functionality extension, and file privacy. The admin control panel also offers point-and-click installation and uninstallation of plug-ins, without the need for programming or scripting. Team Crossing plug-ins provide a wide array of functionality, including RSS feeds, WebMail, polling, brainstorming, and more.
Easy point-and-click customization was also added to Team Crossing’s themes. Now administrators can change the look of the entire site or individual sections, making it easy to find all the discussion areas or HTML directories.
Team Crossing 3.0 also features a built-in Web publishing feature, which can be used in conjunction with the WebFiles mirroring system to allow users to create and edit home page directories with nothing more than a Web browser. All added or modified files are automatically synchronized in real-time with the host file system.
Team Crossing 3.0 is available now as a server-hosted solution (ASP) for maximum uptime starting at US$65/month. For a limited time, licenses of Team Crossing are also available on an unlimited traffic per-seat basis starting at $295, or on a traffic-based sliding scale software license starting at $295.
License upgrades are free for currently registered users. Web Crossing offers assistance for those who want to migrate to Team Crossing 3.0.
